2009 Virginia-Highland Summerfest





929 dave fm and the Virginia-Highland Civic Association are proud to present the 26th annual Virginia-Highland Summerfest, June 6 - 7, 2009.

Celebrate the beginning of summer by shopping for original art, enjoying great food and watching live music from artists like Cowboy Mouth, Manchester Orchestra and many more. 

Make plans to attend!  All the details are below.

WHEN
Saturday, June 6, 2009 – 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
(Artist Market will close at 7pm on Saturday)
Sunday, June 7, 2009 – 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 

WHERE
Scenic and historic Virginia Avenue between North Highland Avenue and Park Drive

ADMISSION
Free!!!  Donations to the Virginia-Highland Civic Association greatly appreciated.

ARTS 
The juried artist market features work and exhibits from more than 230 of the best artists in the southeast and beyond, in a variety of media including painting, clay, glass, jewelry, photography, printmaking, fiber, wood, metal and mixed media.

RACE
The Summerfest 5K is held at 8am on Saturday June 6th and features 1,000 runners winding through the neighborhood streets of Virginia-Highland. Following the 5K Race, children aged 5 and under will run, waddle or crawl to the finish line of the Tot Trot held in Inman Middle School field at 8:45am. Registration for the 5K and Tot Trot must be made in advance. See www.active.com to register or email roadraceservices@comcast.net.

DAVE FM MAINSTAGE MUSIC
The 92.9 dave fm main stage will feature a variety of renowned local musicians, along with nationally-acclaimed singer songwriters. The music line up this year:

SATURDAY, JUNE 6
11:30 am - 12:20 pm: Jackson County Line
12:40 pm - 1:20 pm: Hightide Blues
1:50 pm - 2:35 pm: Matt Hires
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm: Serena Ryder
4:30 pm - 6:00 pm: Davey Knowles & Back Door Slam
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm: Cowboy Mouth

 
SUNDAY, JUNE 7
12:30 pm - 1:15 pm: County Line Strangers
1:30 pm - 2:30 pm: Ponderosa
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm: The Constellations
4:30 pm - 6:00 pm: Manchester Orchestra



KIDSFEST
This year’s Kidsfest will take place on Arcadia next to John Howell Park on Saturday (10am to 6pm) and Sunday (Noon to 5pm). A variety of artistic activities, clowns with balloon animals, music and many other activities will be offered for children.

PARKING
There is a limited mix of free parking lots, paid parking lots, and designated on-street parking. 

MARTA 
Take the MARTA train to Midtown Station. Walk east on 10th street until it dead-ends into Monroe. Turn right onto Monroe. Turn left at the first traffic light onto Virginia. Walk up Virginia until you see Summerfest. Distance from Midtown MARTA is approx. 1.4 miles.
